Everyone Should Have 5 Email Accounts: How to Manage Them in One App

Experts say that people should have at least 5 email accounts. Find out why. Plus, we'll introduce you to a free email app that lets you manage all your accounts and calendars in one place and helps you write and reply with AI.

Everyone needs at least 5 email accounts, according to experts

According to some of the most recent email statistics for 2025...

"The average user has at least two email accounts and 99% of email users check their email daily, some as often as 20 times a day." –Porch Group Media

Since everyone can access unlimited free, separate email accounts, it makes sense to take advantage of this opportunity. As we are invaded by an endless supply of spam and scams, we can strategically use unique email addresses to protect ourselves. Such a strategy helps you spot scammers more efficiently and reduce the amount of junk mail in your inbox.

Hold that thought before you object to the hassle of dealing with a handful of different email accounts. Later in this article, we'll introduce you to an app that makes it easy to manage all your email accounts simultaneously in a single app.

In an article by Forbes Technology Council, Council member Morey Haber advocated that everyone needs at least four email accounts. Haber is not the first to advocate segmenting email correspondence through separate accounts to mitigate risk as an email user.

Haber proposes the following:

1. Unique email address for banking or financial institutions.

Use this email address for banking or financial matters. Then, any emails you receive related to banking or financial endeavors at any other email address you might have are easily spotted as fraud.

2. Unique email address for social correspondence.

Use this email address when communicating with friends, family, or other social activities. It should be used purely for communication. This email account should never log into anything online.

3. Unique email address for online shopping.

Use this email address for all online shopping. Because retailers often sell and/or share your email address with partners or information brokers, this email address will potentially receive promotions, newsletters, and/or other junk mail you don't want filling up your different inboxes.

Hackers or spammers often target email accounts used for e-commerce.

Another step you can take toward your safety is always signing in as a guest when shopping online. This can help prevent the website from potentially storing sensitive information such as your credit card number, address, and other credentials. You can also use one-time virtual credit cards from Capital One, US Bank, and others.

4. Unique email address for employment and/or local, state, or federal government.

Use this email address to correspond with your employer or clients. You can also use this to correspond with local, state, and federal agencies.

However, we take Haber's proposal one step further and suggest one additional email account as a minimum.

5. Utilities, healthcare, and other bills

Because there is such a prevalence of healthcare scam emails, it could be worthwhile to dedicate an email address specifically to your utility bills, healthcare, and other bills. Again, this is just one more division that makes it easier to spot scam emails that don't belong.
